Jinko Tiger Neo or JA Solar DeepBlue 4.0: how an EPC contractor picks a module for a Bangladeshi project

Two N-type TOPCon modules with almost identical datasheets. The parameters that actually decide a rooftop plant in Bangladesh are temperature coefficient, mechanical load rating, whether bifacial gain is real on your roof, and in-country warranty support.

The question usually arrives as which panel is better. On two modules of the same cell generation, from two Tier-1 makers, the honest answer is that the module is rarely what decides how much energy a plant produces. The roof orientation, the string layout, the shading from the next building, the cable sizing and how often the array gets cleaned all move output further than the gap between these two datasheets does. What a module choice does decide is risk over twenty-five years, and that is a different set of questions.

The transition from P-type PERC to N-type TOPCon solar panels is well underway in Bangladesh. The two dominant brands in the Bangladeshi market, Jinko Solar Tiger Neo and JA Solar DeepBlue 4.0, both use N-type TOPCon cell technology, offering higher efficiency, better low-light performance, and lower temperature coefficients than the PERC panels that dominated the market until 2023.

Read that table for how little separates the two rather than for a winner. Same cell technology, same certification, same degradation curve, warranties that match. Anyone presenting a decision between them as a technical breakthrough is selling something.

What we actually check before specifying a module

Performance in Bangladesh's climate

Bangladesh's climate presents specific challenges for solar panels: high ambient temperatures (35–42°C in summer), high humidity (80–95% relative humidity), and frequent dust and pollution in industrial areas. Both Jinko Tiger Neo and JA DeepBlue 4.0 perform well in these conditions, with their low temperature coefficients (-0.29 to -0.30%/°C) meaning less power loss on hot days compared to older PERC panels (-0.35%/°C).

Humidity is the half of that sentence that gets less attention and causes more long-term trouble. Over twenty-five years on a riverside or coastal site, moisture ingress at the laminate edge and potential-induced degradation do more damage than a tenth of a percent of efficiency ever will. Ask what damp heat and PID conditions the module was qualified against, and what the construction is, because that is the question the climate is really asking.

Soiling is the other one. On an industrial roof near a brick field, a cement plant or a busy road, the output lost to dust between cleanings is comfortably larger than the gap between these two modules. A cleaning schedule written into the O&M contract will do more for the yield than the brand on the frame.

So which should you choose?

For most industrial rooftop projects in Bangladesh, both panels are excellent choices and the difference in real-world performance is minimal (less than 1%). The decision usually comes down to current stock availability in Bangladesh and price at the time of procurement, both of which move month to month.

Which is why the useful thing to do is to stop specifying by brand. Write the requirement by parameter: cell technology, minimum module efficiency, a limit on temperature coefficient, the mechanical load rating you need for your wind exposure, the warranty terms, the IEC certifications, and the documentation to be handed over. Then let the EPC contractor procure whichever qualifying make is genuinely available and correctly priced when the purchase order is placed. A brand-locked specification will eventually cost you six weeks waiting for one manufacturer's container while an equivalent module sits in a warehouse in Dhaka.
